Itamar Dagan is an Israeli musician, composer and music producer with a unique style that draws inspiration from the musical traditions of India and the Middle East, Israeli folk songs, Western classical music, jazz and contemporary folk. His latest album "Havurat Yehuda" presents original works that bring these influences to light, with poetic texts in Hebrew about struggle, sacrifice and belonging. Dagan is currently performing with his band throughout the country.
Alongside his original work, Dagan is involved in music production, playing Indian slide guitar and tabla, writing arrangements, producing music for films, teaching music, and conducting ensembles.
Releases
Havurat Yehuda – A concept album of original music with Hebrew lyrics that deal with belonging, guilt and sacrifice, and the struggle inherent in life in Israel. The album was recorded at the Mazkeka Studios in Jerusalem with a unique ensemble of musicians that combines Eastern and Western traditions.
The Ensemble
The ensemble, led by Itamar Dagan, brings a unique sonic signature and is composed of top-notch musicians from various musical backgrounds, with instruments from both East and West. The ensemble features a soft and soulful rhythm section of double bass, drums and Indian slide guitar, with a string and wind section that includes cello, lyre, and interchanging Nai and bansuri flutes.
